Mauricio Kuri Leads the Expansion of ENGEL Machinery Mexico in Querétaro: A Step Towards the Future of the Manufacturing Industry

The Governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, inaugurated the expansion of ENGEL Machinery Mexico's plant, an Austrian company and global leader in the production of injection molding machines and automation. With an investment of 1.1 billion pesos, this expansion will increase the operational capacities of the plant and create 515 new jobs in the region.
During the ceremony, Kuri González emphasized the trust the executives of ENGEL have in continuing to invest in Querétaro, particularly in a global context of political and economic uncertainty. He affirmed that, despite international challenges, Querétaro remains a safe, stable, and attractive place for investment, offering not only a peaceful environment but also first-rate infrastructure and highly skilled human talent.

"In times of global uncertainty, entrepreneurs need immunity to adversity. And without a doubt, ENGEL possesses that strength. Querétaro has positioned itself as the best place to invest, thanks to its infrastructure, quality of life, and legal certainty. "What we are witnessing today is a clear manifestation of the trust companies have in our state," the governor said.
ENGEL’s Global President, Stefan Engleder, stated that this expansion is aimed at being closer to their customers in the region and strengthening the company’s presence in Querétaro. He highlighted that the investment in the state is part of a global strategy to decentralize the organization and enhance the region.
"In Querétaro, we have everything we need: a safe environment, good infrastructure, and excellent quality of life. This makes both the company and employees feel attracted and comfortable here. "This is an ideal place to invest and develop," Engleder said.
Meanwhile, Nils Mayer, General Director of ENGEL Machinery Mexico, emphasized that this expansion is not just about growth for the company, but also a reflection of the trust in the human and technological potential of the region. He added that in Mexico, they are not just making molding machines, but developing world-class solutions with a focus on innovation and excellence.

"We are not just manufacturers; we are pioneers. We want our customers to be pioneers too. "This expansion is just the beginning of a future filled with innovative projects," Mayer enthusiastically stated.
Nadia Kalb, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in Mexico, also highlighted the importance of this expansion, which represents a vote of confidence in Mexico’s economy and Querétaro as a strategic investment hub. She added that the Embassy supports the growth of Austrian companies in the region and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening trade relations between Austria and Mexico.
"This expansion not only confirms that Mexico and Latin America remain attractive markets for entrepreneurs, but also demonstrates the strength of regional economic integration," Kalb assured.
In his remarks, the Secretary of Sustainable Development of Querétaro, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, celebrated the consolidation of the plastics industry in the state, which is the fifth most important sector in terms of production and exports. He highlighted that the plastic and rubber industry generates a significant impact on the local economy, representing over 6% of Querétaro’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
"Austrians have been key partners for Querétaro. In just the third quarter of 2024, the Austrian plastics industry invested 147 million dollars in the state. Today, 14 Austrian companies operate in Querétaro, and we are continuing our efforts to attract more investment," Del Prete Tercero stated.

Finally, Vanessa Malena, Regional President of ENGEL Americas, underscored that this new facility is not only a manufacturing center but also a symbol of the company's commitment to being close to its customers and continuing to innovate in the industry. She thanked state authorities for their support and highlighted the synergy that made the project a reality.
"This center is a testament to ENGEL’s commitment to being alongside its customers, understanding their needs, and working together to bring innovation to new levels. "This is the place where production, engineering, and automation meet to create the future of the industry," Malena concluded.
The expansion of ENGEL Machinery Mexico in Querétaro not only represents a step forward in the plastic industry but also serves as a clear example of the region's economic dynamism, which continues to attract key investments for the development and growth of Mexico.
